Last year, the school was awarded the 4th Computer Literacy award in recognition of its distinguished service in imparting Computer Education. This year, the school added another feather in its cap by receiving the award for the best private educational institution in the state in recognition of its excellence in the field of education by the State Government and the award was conferred on the school by the Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Chamling on 5th September at an elaborate function held at Chintan Bhawan.
It is therefore, with great joy and jubilation that this edition of Xaverian is presented. As in the previous years’ once again many budding talents have come forward with their creative compositions giving us an inkling of great creative potential within them. It is hoped that you will definitely approve of and appreciate the efforts put in by these promising young talents.
As usual, this year too, we have the English, Nepali, Hindi, Tibetan and Lepcha sections giving a scope for creative expression in the language of their preference.
In appreciation and recognition of the dedicated service to this great institution of the four silver jubelirians we have also included the jubilee citation of each jubelirian - a short biographical sketch of each of them . Also you will find a chronology of the important events and achievements of the year in “2008 at a Glance”, by Mr. Sebastian P.J.
On behalf of the editorial board, I thank our Principal for his keen interest, valuable suggestions and the encouraging support throughout which was instrumental in materializing this edition of the Xaverian within such a short period of time.
I sincerely thank and appreciate the efforts put in by the editors in each section and look forward to their cooperation in our future endeavours.
Finally, it is hoped that this edition shall be beneficial to many students and encourage more students to come forward with their creative potential in the next edition of the Xaverian.
James P.J. EDITOR
From Principal’s desk As someone rightly said, “Man can live about 40 days without food, but only for one second, without hope.” Initially the academic session 2008 seemed so long as we began the year but it was hope that kept me going all the way to the end. Not hoping to complete the year just for the sake of hopeless end but hopes such as: To complete it successfully, To have a satisfying academic performance, To develop more convivial relationship with teachers, parents and students, To excel in various fields of arts, games, studies, socio-cultural peripherals, To expect the unexpected, and so on. And the year experienced the mixture of everything, making to me more hopeful to step into another year of unseen future, because limitations live only in our minds, but if we use our imagination, our possibilities become limitless. I am very glad that we (Xaverian Family) have once again done it well. My sincere gratitude to all our Staff members teaching and non teaching, Students, Parents, Government officials, and all who have become the part of Institution in times of lost and gain, joys and sorrows. Finally, I wish all our ICSE (X) and ISC (XII) students best wishes for their board examinations 2009 and to all our well wishers a grace filled new year 2009. May we always strive for God and Country.
SILVER JUBILEE CITATION
I would like to highlight the short account of the life activities of Rev. Father Walter Fernandes who among us is more of a saint than just a priest. Born on 28 December 1952 in Mangalore, Father Walter is the second child and the second son to Late Isaac Fernandez and Magdalena Fernandez. After the completion of school education Father Walter joined the Darjeeling Diocese as a candidate for priesthood and was ordained as priest on 25th May 1983 by Late Eric Benjamin the Bishop of Darjeeling Diocese, at Pedong Church. Father Walter had his College education in the “Morning Star” College, Barrackpore, Calcutta like other candidates. Since his ordination, Father Walter has been working in the hills at various places holding different posts and responsibilities and has been working with high sense of dignity, care and mercy. Soon after ordination Father Walter worked at St. Mary’s Kurseong as a Parish Priest and shifted his religious responsibilities to disciplinary academic one – as a prefect at North Point School Department from 1985 to 1990. Thereafter, Father Walter had been posted to Suruk Parish Church where he served the people till 1993. Father Walter once again had been called to Namchi Public School, where his post was that of Superintendent of the boys’ hostel till 1999 – a long span of seven years. Then again Father had to go for his priestly work at Martam Parish Church where he worked till 2003. Since 2003 Father Walter has been with us, at St. Xavier’s School as a Vice Principal and Hostel Superintendent. To tell more about Rev. Father Walter, I have already said that he is one of the Saints than just a Priest. We feel calm and serene in his presence. His presence creates an aura of peace and serenity wherever he is. He is approached anytime for any problem and his helping hands soothe and console us. I, on behalf of all the staff members and the student body wish Father Walter a long and healthy life so that many more people may benefit from his service. May God bless him so that his Saintly powers may be developed more in him.

Selfishness is very Bad Sangay Laden Bhutia III B
Once upon a time, in a small town lived a man called Ben. He was very selfish and had an evil mind. One day, while he was on his way to the market, he saw a group of beggars coming towards him. When one of them asked him for money, he looked at him angrily and asked him, “Why should I give you anything? Have you given me money to keep?” The beggar went away with a sad face.
A man who heard Ben called him and took him to a tea shop. There, he told Ben, “Why are you doing this? Don’t you feel bad when you hurt other’s feelings?” Ben thought for some time, stood up and thanked the man for his good advice. From that day onwards Ben became a good man. He started helping needy persons and he always gave something when he met any beggars.

Physics Abhnay Oberoi
Studying Physics; Is a botheration. It contains the principle of transformation Fused with those of heat and evaporation Simple melting and condensation, Are taken into consideration.
Formulas are put into a lot of restrictions; Pages are filled with Newtown’s inventions, Where simple sums have difficult solutions. Learning physics really gives me indigestion. For it is a heavy subject of gravitation.
My sister and me Marie Terese Lepcha VIII A
At home we fight like cats and dogs, But we are still together one in thought, We share a bond which no one can break, Not even the devil who likes to irritate.
When we have problems, we turn to each other, She says “Marie……” I say “Angie……” But when we have fight, lord help you…. Stay out of sight!
We seldom share, unless in despair She knows her boundary and I know mine. For even if I cross an inch, she really does fine! By not crossing her boundary line.
Those were historical days which have passed, I see it in memories in a swirl of colours So wild, so real like it was just yesterday, That we fought and hell broke loose!
But we now share a bond which no one can break, Not even the devil who tries to aggravate.
Alone Swornim Dhakal VIII A
I know only a miracle Can pick me up again Because I let myself down On the coming of joy and pain
I pretend to smile I pretend to let things go by, I pretend not to have my heart say, As it growls in pain and cry Many a thing brings me happiness But the next second it’s all gone Don’t know what to hold on to, Living in a crowd, yet so much alone.
How to face and solve our problems Archana Sharma VIII A
If we want to be happy, we have to be honest about our problems. For instance, we may be thinking that nobody wants us when actually we are afraid of going out among people and taking part in social activity. We have a problem. But we have to see it in its true light before we can tackle it effectively. When a problem is unpleasant, we may try to persuade it that it doesn’t exist and that it is all a matter our imagination. For example, it is possible to become fond of someone who cannot always be relied on and one who hurts and disappoint us again and again. Yet our tendency is to close our eyes to it and look instead for reasons which will excuse the behaviour of the person. Most of us would try to avoid breaking of a relationship like marriage, unity of a family, or a close friendship. Our affection which is often strong on both sides generally outweighs the unsatisfactory relationships. On the other hand, it is necessary to be honest so that we accept the truth about people and see them as they really are. Thus we avoid being hurt so often and so deeply.
WUSHU Ashim Rai VIII A
Wushu as we all know is a military art originated in China. It consists of many weapons including swords, spears, and sticks. Wushu was first known only in China, but now, almost every part of the world knows about it and practices it. Even in India, almost all of the twenty-eight States have organized Wushu and Sikkim is one of them.
Manipur is the first State in India to organize this art. The Headquarter of Sikkim Amateur of Wushu Association (SAWA) is in Gangtok. In Sikkim Wushu is practised only in two places, one in Gangtok (White hall) and the other at Pakyong i.e., at St. Xavier’s School. This was first introduced in our School by Rev. Fr. Jerard Lepcha, the Principal.
For people who suffer from overweight and rheumatism, Wushu provides an effective cure. People of all ages can join this art. There are several other benefits from Wushu as well. It gives us some knowledge about the nature, like any other arts.
Being one of the candidates of Wushu, I encourage each and everyone to join this art as it is beneficial in several ways.
Dear Brother Noorsang Lhamu Sherpa IX B
Born to a couple, just by chance, Or was it some divine power plan? We grew up together as brother and sister And thought for long we’d be together.
You held my hand, And taught me how to walk, You did many different things, Just to make me laugh.
We had good time together, And all were going fine, Brother, you were really kind, Then you left us all behind.
Now as I sit and think, How could such a thing happen That you left me, all of us And you proceeded to heaven? My heart really sinks so deep Thoughts of you wake me up from my sleep.
We all are Unique Subham Limboo IX A
We, human beings, are so created by God that we are different from each other in many respects. The difference is so small, yet that difference makes us unique. Whatever quality I have, others may not have them. On the other hand, whatever qualities others have, I may not possess them. That is why we appear different and that difference makes us unique.
Our characters and our behaviour make us what we are. Our manners and discipline form our personality. Our looks are different from the others. Our feelings too are different. One very object may produce different feelings in different individuals. A person whom I love may be hated by my twin brother. A thesaying goes, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” This is an example of our uniqueness. This indicates that we should not expect the same kind of behaviour from other people.
In conclusion, I say that human beings behave in a wide variety of ways. This difference in human behaviour makes the personality world very colourful and unique.
Let us Laugh and be Happy Dharmit Lepcha IX A
Human beings without emotions cannot be thought of. Emotions in human beings make their world colorful. Perhaps our civilization would not be as colorful as it is, if human beings lacked the emotions.
At times we are happy and other times we are sad. This is due to emotions. It seems the seat of emotions is our heart. Emotions of joy and happiness are positive. Positive emotions enrich our lives. We seek them. Philosophers say that the real objective of life is happiness. Happy emotions are sought after. Above all love is the greatest and strongest emotion that we have.
Sadness is also created within us. This is a negative emotion. Negative emotions darken our lives. They lead us more towards darkness and death. Sad people easily turn to be melancholic and depressive. The depressive attitude leads to destructive behaviour. We need to select the good and positive emotions and develop them for our own good.
At times, when we feel sad and depressive we need to replace them with joy and happiness deliberately. We need not wait happiness to be there for laughter, we laugh so that we become happy. Then let us all laugh………and be happy.
O dear mother Bhawana Regmi IX B
My dear mother I found in thee An ocean of love - That has no boundary; From earth to paradise You prevail in the form of me, Reflecting in me The only asset of future hope Sacrificing your desire in youth, Determining me to climb up to reach infinity Your courtesy and hospitality, Generous thought guided me, When I was a tender bud. I pray, salute, for thy devotion. Now let me bloom with sweet fragrance, In the mud of human civilization As you like, bless me even further to follow your feature, As to become a good teacher as you.
Smile Pratik Gurung IX A
A smile costs no money Neither does it need an occasion; It is more precious than a gem It is the gift that God gave us.
No matter how much pain there is No matter what the stage it is No matter how the life goes on A smile makes us happier Happier than a moment before.
A smile is a precious thing It does not cost a single pie; For it is a gift of God A heavenly reward for everyone.
A smile is a precious thing We should preserve it in our hearts; Let us smile and smile again And make the world a happier place.
NATURE Sailesh Chettri IX A
As I open my eyes, I see the green trees all around. The green grass, vegetables and trees all attract me. The nature is attractive because of its greenery.
Nature is the home of many living organism. Nature is meant for all the creatures of God. Human beings seem to control the nature. Lower kinds of animals are tamed by human beings. Human beings seem to control some of the process of natural forces; human beings have disturbed the smooth functioning of nature. This has led to the homelessness of many species. On the other hand, people are trying to preserve the nature. Though many trees have been felled, many saplings are being planted. To keep the balance of various gases in the Nature, green trees have to be planted for the release of Oxygen.
The powerful heat of the sun may destroy our Nature unless we protect it. Nature must be left free and undisturbed if we want to live in nature as our home.
LOVE Shekar Dulal IX A
Love is something that is in everyone. Every human being, even a small insect, bird or animal has it. Love is that emotion which shows our internal characteristic or the real personality. We, human beings have the power to think. Today if we use the word love, the feelings that are generated in is generally negative. Everyone has emotions and love is one of them. It is as plain as paper.
Love is of two types. Firstly, there is love in which no sacrifice is made and only profit is gained; and secondly, there is love in which sacrifice is made. In the matter like girl friend and boyfriend among the school students, generally the love is of first kind. Loving is helping and coming together of individuals and has no negative sense. So we should always love everyone and should hate no one.
Ode to my friends Shivani Pradhan XI Sc.
Pretty faces of friends dear and near, Holding hands we promised we’d share, Each other’s triumphs and despair, Forever and forever.
But life is long and time is short, Each passing day made us away from The commitment we’d made as words in sand, Destiny having the upper hand.
As I sit on my couch reminiscing that day, I see pretty faces always so gay, Carefree and fancy-free unburdened with what life has in store, How I wish I would bring back the days of yore, And think not of them as in a folklore.
Alcohol and Social Celebrations Phuntsok Doma XI Sc.
People today think it normal for someone to indulge in booze. Hardly any party or social celebration is there, where the guests are not given the freedom to drink to their fills. The hosts want their guests to enjoy themselves without the slightest thought of the aftermath to their home and family.
I picture a family as a sanctuary - a place where one gets companionship of the family members, a place of security and support. Alcohol-laden man unknowingly destroys that peaceful social environment of the house. That is the power and the strength of alcohol through the man. As said by philosophers, God manifests Himself through good deeds of man; I say, evil dignifies in alcohol through man.
The present generation considers it as ‘cool’ to take drugs and indulge in drinking sprees. But in reality nothing can be more embarrassing and undignified than to walk about the streets completely out of sense, talking trash. More embarrassing than this is to hear them whom we admire reprimand us for our normalcy. Is it the alcohol that is taken and digested for pleasure or is the sensible human who takes it who is swallowed by the alcohol? Who should think the alcoholic or I?
I have heard , read about and seen so many families destroyed by the excessive consumption of alcohol. Such sights are not pleasant to look at; neither is it joyful to write about such gloomy matters, but it is worth giving a thought to, “Can’t we too conduct the social celebrations without drinks like the Marwaris, for instance?”
NATURE Zeena Lepcha XI Hum.
Nature can set a sky aflame at sunset or magically transform a familiar landscape into a snow white wonderland. It can paint a rainbow in the sky and beautiful autumn colours of trees. Nature can make the grass glow with soft sunlight and the sea sparkle like dazzling silver. Nature is so miraculous because it is always changing. No matter how many times we look at it, something is always different. It is very sad that in the name of progress we humans are making such a mess of things. We are damaging things so fast that they will soon be way beyond repair. If we do not take care of our beautiful world then we will not have any more lovely trees, sparkling oceans, animals etc.
Nature is useful in many ways. It not only provides us with useful products and essential elements, it also brings a lot of beauty into our lives. Nature has a way of affecting our moods and it can force us to change our plans. Nature is responsible for the sun, clouds, rain and snow. When it is sunny and bright outside, we feel cheerful inside. When it is cloudy and rainy, we often feel gloomy. When the night is beautiful and starry, the moonlight makes us feel romantic. When we see green leaves on a tree or when a timid flower pushes through the frozen ground, or when we smell the freshness of springs, new hope fills our heart with joy. Nature is truly an intrinsic part of our lives.
It is our duty to conserve nature and to lead a bright and healthy life.

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE Contributed by: Tezing Choden XI Atrs
We have bigger houses, but smaller families. More convenience, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense. More knowledge, but less judgment More experts, but more problems More medicines, but less healthiness We’ve been all the way to the moon, and back, But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We’ve built more computers to hold more information To produce more copies than ever, but have less communication, We have become long on quantity but short on quality. These are times of fast food but slow digestion.
Tall man but short characters Steep profile but shallow relationships, It’s a time when there is much in window but nothing in the room.
NATURE NISCHAL THAPA XI (Sci.)
The hovering sight of cloudy sky, Seems like it’s telling me ‘hi’, The whisper of the wind so soft, Makes me dream of the loft,
I wonder how the birds fly, With their wings stretched high, How the green trees shiver In the evening cool breeze?
The greenery around mollify my mind, The purity of nature here I find, The evening has slowly lost its glow, To turn into a mystic night so slow,
Now it has turned night, With the stillness of foggy sight, Bringing me the sense of truth, Asking me not to wait for fruit, Drowsing as the night gets round, With the dreams of nature so mild, The wonderful things of nature I saw, Everything follows God’s law.
THE TRUE NATURE OF A POEM SERINA LAMA XI (Sci)
When I look up and see the blue sky, And the glowing sun embedded upon it high, I set down my feelings upon paper.
When I behold things all around me, I record my thoughts about what I see, When I weep, my tear-beads drop, As ink from my pen on paper, when I sob, And form writings of some sort.
When my heart overflows with joy, my laughter, Form impression upon the paper, Characters and alphabets arrange themselves, Words, line, rhythm and verses come, And I copy beautifully what they did form, And I found the writing was a “POEM”
TRUTH TRIUMPHS……… NISHA CHAUHAN XI(Hum.)
Truth symbolizes “Peace” And mingling up of happiness……… A feeling that has everlasting joys, And the only medium we can gain respect, We do fake and duck things, And pretend to let it go just by, But we are cheating ourselves Our inner soul is disturbed and Everything goes so messy…….. Be true to yourself and make an effort To live a peaceful life, As a lie can never be hidden, And even the dark cannot put it off……..
A True Xaverian Kumud Thapa XII Sc.
I still remember the first day I stepped into the St.Xavier’s to get admission in Class one. My parents put me in NGH and I was happy to say goodbye to them because I had believed that they would return. But when the news as broken to me that I had to stay in the hostel without my parents, I was devastated, and I started bawling. I have spent twelve whole years studying in Xavier’s and here I have had many experiences . The principals have changed, some of the teachers and friends have gone away. But Xavier’s for me is still the same – except for the colour! It can be said that Xavier’s and especially, NGH, has become my second home. I have spent three fourths of every year here for the last 12 years. Xavier’s has given me many unforgettable memories to cherish. It has taught me the values one should possess. I shall always be thankful to the teachers who had the patience to bear with my mistakes. I am thankful to all the sisters of NGH for taking care of me from the time I was a kid. The year is coming to an end and so is my school life, and time has passed on so quickly and no matter where I go in the future, I shall never forget Xavier’s and everything it has given me. It was and will always remain my dear alma mater – For God and Country.
Failure is not Final Yangdup Bhutia XII Sc.
Don’t quit, “failure is not final”. Hardly has there been a baby born in this earth who has learned to walk without experiencing several falls. If we ask any successful person the course of his ways towards success, he will recount the number of times he failed. But, why did he not quit due to failures? Because, “failure is not final.”
Failures feed a person with determination to win the test the next time. There are stories told of people who used the stone they stumbled to build a mansion of success, confidence and prosperity. So, if you, in your course towards success fail, do not quit if you want to win, since winners had never quit and quitters shall never win. Who knows a hurdle of failure shall sublime you to a position where you shall shake hands with a grand series of success.
It’s a Farewell and a Goodbye Pravesh Hingmang XII Arts
Now we know we have to go away, But before we do There’s still one last thing To you we want to say
Dear alma mater if we’re far away May the warmth of your love Always stay in our heart, In our mind, and in our soul
And bless our life to be good Forever and ever we need that blessing No matter what we do Or which ever place may go
Even though we don’t want To go far away from our school But what else can we do The situations force us to do so.
A lot of things are within us Even though we can never express The things we need to tell about May remain afresh in our heart
So, school don’t ever forget us, In this short life, that we’ve got.
Though I be far away, Away from St. Xavier’s The love of School shall remain In my heart for ever Farewell all my school friends
The last days Swarnim Tamang XII Sc.
As exams are nearing There is a scared feeling deep down, There is a feeling That every one has: The feeling of sadness. This feeling is like A disease or plague Which everyone will catch.
Like a ritual, a farewell Given and delivered: Happy to leave the School, Thinking of the days to come But there always lies Sadness on leaving the School.
“School life which is The most precious life” Said by everyone Is felt deep within: But no one showing it in the open.
Everyone has memories of times spent together Some sweet and some bitter Memories linger As the last days come With smiles on the faces Trying to fight back the tears; On their eyes they leave Each having memories Of those wonderful times.
Adieu Xavier’s Jesse Isaac Dhakal XII Sc.
When I first saw thee, Xavier’s My heart stupefied by your majestic appearance. My god! I thought, I had found at last- ‘You!’- glistening excellently in the sun’s gleam. The true glaciers of the rivers of knowledge, Towering, majestic and wonderful, rising amidst all green And children “with spirits high and hearts ablaze” For so many, an inspiration hast thou been.
I came here knowing I was nothing but a fool, A tramp sure to stumble at every wayside stone, But now I know I’ll be filled with knowledge full And made wise, when all my studies here are done: Wise with such wisdom that diligently shall gather All the stones upon which one fell And build with them a mansion together, Confidence, that shall never fail.
When I beheld thee Xavier’s I knew- Thou were the best. A paradise, For those wanting to learn and the few, In foolery, yet desiring to rise. I hail the Xavier’s with a heart lowly and humble, For making me what all from me what I am, Who can pick up stones upon which he did stumble.
And now Xavier’s it’s time to depart, With tears in eyes and a heavy heart. Bud, blossom and flourish evermore as thou always hast been, Mount the zenith, attain the glory, Which no one has seen, where none has been
.. a First Timer…. Shivani Rai XII Sc
My mum often says that there’s always a first time for almost everything; I guess she’s right because in St.Xavier’s I’ve had so many experiences as a first timer to different situations. And now, I finally recall the memories of the two years I have spent here.
I came from a Convent , so co-ed was a whole a new dimension for me. After getting to the School I was to stay in the Nirmala Girls’ Hostel. I was very anxious as I had never stayed in hostel before. But two years later I am used to staying with many friends, sleeping in a dormitory, staying up late to wish someone at 12 am because it was her Birthday or quarrelling at times and even leaving a pair of shoes totally misplaced! As a classes elevener ,(2007), I was taken to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute at Darjeeling along with other class eleveners. It was an embarrassing fact that being a domicile of Darjeeling I had never gone for any H.M.I Course. And if we weren’t taken by this school, I would’ve surely missed a lot. Of course, at the time of the course I was totally sun burnt and outraged but the whole idea of getting to know new faces and places and information( like sunscreen lotion, don’t really work when you walk 18 km under the hot sun) was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Another experience which I can never forget is playing in the ISC category girls’ football team. I wasn’t actually supposed to play. But it so happened that I was given the team jersey. My first instinct was to run away and hide in the toilet or in the ‘Passang daju’s room, but I thought against it. So a few minutes later I was running in the field, chasing the white ball which I had believed, was easy to kick. Unfortunately, I was wrong. We were playing against the ICSE girls category and the match ended in a penalty shoot-out and the ISC category won (probably because I wasn’t one of the strikers!). In 2007, I also took part in the inter house debate after the constant persistence of my house Captain. I was doing fine in the practice session and I had actually started wondering why I had never participated in a debate before? So, the day of the debate arrived and I walked on to the stage with my team mates and when I saw the audience staring right at us, I remembered exactly why I had never spoken in a debate! It was too scary to perceive so many pairs of eyes fixed on you in one single moment. I was out of breath and my adrenaline was on high. Feeling a bit dizzy because of my nervousness, I managed to reach the podium only to find that I wasn’t tall enough to reach the microphone! I’m still amazed how I didn’t black out. Finally, the debate went in favour of the opponents.
2008 brought with it fresh experience for me. I was voted the red house Vice-Captain. It’s the first time that I’ve been given such a big responsibility and I still don’t know whether this decision was right. I also managed to put myself into trouble this year. I can’t give the ‘gruesome’ details of the incident; all I can say is that I learnt that table-tennis boards are easily breakable. I would like to apologize to our Principal, yet again, and also to all the table tennis players.
Moving on, I also took part in a group song for the Gospel Melody ‘08 which took place at Don Bosco School, Malbassey. I had never been there. So, I figured I would do something useful for the school along with visiting a pl ace I had never been. Our group song and dance did not win but our Skit was ranked third and our participants faired well in the Gospel speech and quiz. Overall, our scholl came third out of the nine participating schools.
These are just some of my experiences here in the Xavier’s. There are many more memories that others built, they escape my mind at the present moment. Though these experiences were nice, I do confess that at times I wished I wasn’t here. It’s the first time that I have stayed away from home so the feeling home-sick ness is inevitable. Sometimes, I am brimming with complaints but then I give it a second thought-people don’t always get what they want. But if they learn to like what they get then paradise is easy for them to find. The two years I spent in St.Xavier’s have been very memorable. The friends I’ve made and the teachers I’ve met will always remain close to my heart. Being a first timer isn’t always easy but in Xavier’s it was great! For God and Country!
Good bye for a while… Chedup Ethenpa XII Sc.
At the end of my ninth year in this institution, I felt ‘all grown up’ as one of the oldest and the senior most student in this school. I recall to my mind a picture of me joining the school, years back, tears rolling down my cheeks and now when it’s time to leave my eyes feel moist and my heart a little heavy with old memories. As I look back , I feel a big piece of a huge jigsaw missing from my heart. Years passed by with pranks, complaints and also the punishment that comes as part of the deal.
As the years rolled on I kept learning a lot as a school is a powerhouse of knowledge, made friends who taught me a lot. Now as I see small children, I see myself there years back , a favourite of the senior boys and girls, but now it’s I who make them my favourites.
Some things which I shall never forget includes – “organizing hunger strike in the hostel”, as was told; “playing pranks at the middle of the night”, which again as told; “bunking out of the hostel”, a fact; “making fun of seniors , classmates and a few teachers”, which is not a lie; “singing at the assembly”; “paying fines”, a bitter truth; “studying which included 70percent fooling around”, and, “ lastly getting hammered frequently”, meant for the boys and also the greatest regret of my life.
Still do I want all these things to happen again? No. For the love given by the blue and white of my Alma mater has woven lots of things in my heart which is hard to forget but as it is the end I would like to say good bye of a while….
“MOM” MOTHER LADIN ONGMU XII (Sc.)
There are eyes upon you, And they are watching night and day, There are ears that quickly take in, Every word you say.
There are hands all eager, To do everything you do, And this is a girl, who is dreaming, Of the day she’ll be like you.
You are the little girl’s idol, You are the wisest of the wise, In her mind about you, No suspicious ever rise.
She believes in you truly, Holds all that you say and do, She will say and do in your ways, When she’s grown up like you.
You are setting an example, Every day in all you do, For a girl who is grateful deeply, Waiting to grow up-to be just like you
It’s Hard To Bid Farewell Mayamit Lepcha XII Sc
I remember the first day in Xavier’s - a New experience and everything so unexpected….. I did feel awkward. As everything, was so new.
I felt that it was not the right place for me. Days passed by; Things took a new turn. Every day turned a surprise for me. With lots of happenings “good” and “bad” as well….. Now this unknown place became a home for me. A place where I always long to be.. But its time now and it’s hard to let it go….. Hard to leave my habitat, apart. And hard to bid farewell now…
WHEN ALL SMILES FADE Chewang Gyamtso XII Sc.
When all smiles fade, When frown creeps to everyone’s face, When gloom sadness and unhappiness, Prevails in human race, When men, instead of sun bright-faces smile, Droop down their heads, Dark and brooding as under a guile When hands instead of joyfully embracing, Move away with scorn and anger, With disdain, even from one’s own brother, Then may be, the usual sun, Instead of its brightness plumage out spread, Would seem dormant and dead, as if coffins laid.
May be the wind, instead of its regular gushes, Would fail to move due to lack, Lack of lively blood in human’s pulse. Maybe the river, instead of its gentle, Gentle and soft murmuring flow, Freeze into ice, or reduce its banks to fall low, Then earth itself would be overcast, As if for long time dead, Perhaps this would happen, When from humans all smiles would fade.
A Psalm of Life Susanth Dahal XII Sc.
We are all one irrespective of race and creed; You and I have come from the same heavenly seed; No one is master, but are all His kids, We should love and help those who are in need.
To fight for rights even the ants do it, But to confess one’s mistake and defeat, Only the simple and humble can give peace, How joyful would be the earth if we did only this!
Joys and sorrows are just two sides of a coin When one is out, the other is in. When one chance goes, goes away, The other is there, waiting to come in.
Be not grieved of gone, dead past, Neither be excited about future’s task, Hard work of today can make tomorrow bright Or else the future gradually shades its light.
Live your life to the full, for its end is sure Death will come - it’s very had to endure The more your age, nearer is the end; Nature rolls in cyclical form, it’s a common trend.
DEDICATION Paricxit Dahal XII Sc
I cannot identify with the way time take to air and I am depressed, what a heart rending passage I’ve selected, now, I am suppressed. Time does matter and especially when all that matter is the time, I cannot carry on it all and, I feel I am fine.
Take away from me heart, girl and go away, I don’t want to split it with anybody in any form or way. My reality to put was to love and stride in the course of my journey, When you vanish, what aim I have for myself or only me.
I lived my life whole and you’re my dream fairy, When I will live in a hitch, I’ll pray to you as my holy deity. If you ever hope to see me again in times, a time someday may come. I’ ll be your love, lest I be in heaven or hell, in any form.
I see your dreamy eyes, big beautiful nose and sweet smile, when I cry, You have become my angel, I will never forget, not even try…… In the dark throbbing world, I search, glow and peace in you, You are my soul and no one can part from me, you….

As the sands of time pass us, we see that the world has developed . It took a lot of hard work and time for this development. The death and destruction of Mother Nature by pollution was overlooked. So, what is important Development or Survival? Just think it over. The protection of nature, a voice showing the truth and helping the blind i.e. the people who don’t see the present condition of the world is what we do. Though we are a small group we have created awareness in this Sub-division and have made the blind to see the light. This year we conducted a small awareness programme in Noap Gaon and the market area. This programme was a success against the odds that we faced, i.e. the time and the interest. We managed to clean up the roadside, put up banners which would make the people realize the mistake they are doing by polluting the Earth. For ourselves and our future generation let us join our hands together and work harder for a better place to live in; let us be the pioneers of the blind. For, they say-’Cleanliness is next to godliness’.

The Day I left St. Xavier’s School Mr. Kamal Kumar Prasad (former staff of Xavier’s)
No friends to console, none to confide No friend is there to help me, when I need the help, the help I need, The truly good friends are almost none A few that I had, all have gone!
Wherever we go, whatever we do We need to depend on friends’ support; Hence the choice of friends be such: Who are true and sincere to you Alas! Such friends are almost none.
Despite its tough and rigid rules Xavier’s is great among the schools Whosoever scorns the rigid rules They are the thoughtless, heartless fools Xavier’s! You are the best among schools.
